Brian J. Sherman "Sherm" began his professional career after graduating from the University of Michigan (BS 1995, Ann Arbor, MI) as a Design and Development engineer at Ford Motor Co. (Dearborn, MI). There he tested prototype vehicles against performance targets and quickly moved into a Project Management position. As a Project Management Consultant, he acted as liaison between engineering teams and represented four teams at the program level (Lincoln LS, 1999 MY). For these teams, he was responsible for tracking changes, creating and managing test schedules and prototype updates with third parties, coordinated adherence to U.S. governmental standards for emissions, and for tracking progress of the teams' program targets for performance, weight, cost, and timing.

Making charts and graphs, tracking all of this data, and communicating the needs of various team players sparked a greater interest in communication and information design. He re-located to the Bay Area in 1997 to change industries and study Graphic Design at the California college of Arts and Crafts (BFA 2001). He has worked in pre-press at Canterbury Press (Berkeley), as Production Artist and Designer with the staffing firms Aquent and MacPeople, and in various studios throughout the Bay Area including Primo Angeli, Inc.(SF) and Stone Yamashita Partners (SF). Through his own freelance company, Emotive Design, he has had numerous projects, including managing the Internet and Intranet sites for Interior Architects, a global Interior Design firm with offices in 16 cities.

Sherm currently holds a full-time position as Graphic Designer in San Francisco. He is always open to discussing new opportunities on a full-time, part-time, per-project, or other freelance basis. He functions well in large corporate and medium-sized company environments, and also enjoys collaboration with other talented individuals/small-businesses. He does not golf, but has overcome his fear of it.
